Our Galapagos Spanish school is the leading school on the islands with a long and sustained history of excellence. As with the rest of our schools, students have a fully organized and flexible program that allows for a smooth transition from either Quito or Otavalo to continue studying on the famous Enchanted Islands.
Location
The school is centrally located within Puerto Ayora, the main town of Santa Cruz Island. All of the local restaurants, Internet cafes, bars and main harbor are a stones throw away.
Puerto Ayora is a small fishing village, yet very lively due to it being the starting point for most Galapagos tours. It has a relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful bay where you will see the tour boats anchored, rocking in the swell of the turquoise waters (map of Ecuador).
To arrive on the Island of Santa Cruz, it is a 1-hour flight from Quito to the Island of Baltra and then an approximately 60 minute journey to Puerto Ayora in bus with one channel crossing. The Galapagos are 1 hour behind Quito time.
Accommodation is available either through a family home stay or in comfortable local hotels, which we can help you organize.
Free Time
Each day after classes we will introduce you to a new part of Santa Cruz Island whether it is swimming or sunbathng at one of the numerous beaches, visiting caves or the Darwin Center, hiking up a volcano, biking, learning salsa, exploring the art galleries, or simply just relaxing and chatting over cocktails or coffee at one of the many street cafes.
If you want to make some extra excursions over your stay on the Galapagos, we will help you organize these trips through reputable agencies. From Puerto Ayora you have several day trip options to the nearer islands and during the weekends it is possible to stay overnight on some of the inhabited distant Islands.
Each island has its own unique character. Beaches vary in color from white, through red to black, and as Darwin noted, you will see the subtle differences between the abundant and friendly wildlife of this fascinating archipelago wherever you go.

vielen Dank fuer die Muehe und Hilfe. Dass es auch noch moeglich war, in der communidad Unterricht zu bekommen, war grossartig. Eine einmalige Gelegenheit, tiefer in die gastfreundliche Kultur der ecuadorianischen Indigenas einzutauchen. Die Unterbringung in der huebschen Cabana, die so liebevoll mit den farbenfrohen Textilien Ecuadors ausgestattet war, und mit offenem Kamin, den ich mehrere Male angemacht habe und eignem Bad mit Heisswasser ist Spìtze. Wenn ich keinen Unterricht hatte, habe ich am Alltag der Familie teilgnommen, die mich herzlich in ihrer Mitte aufgenommen hat. Ich habe mit gepflanzt und geerntet, habe neue Gerichte kochen und essen gelernt und mit der Familie an einem Tisch gesessen. Oft sind wir zum Zentrum der Comunidad
gegangen, wo einmal ein Kurs zum Herstellen der typischen Espandrillas stattfand, ein anderes mal
wurde ein traditioneller Tanz fuer ein Fest eingeuebt und einmal konnte ich nach einer Minga am gemeinsamen anschliessenden Essen teilnehmen. Ich war mittendrin und kann einen solchen Aufenthalt nur empfehlen!
